Far from having been dramatically rescued, teen model Manohara Odelia Pinot had returned to Indonesia “with the consent of her husband” Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra, according to a close friend of the couple.

“She went back with the husband’s permission... she was neither nabbed nor did she flee,” he said, dismissing the claims of Manohara and her mother Daisy Fajarina.

Manohara, 17, had told a press conference in Jakarta yesterday that she had been “sexually, physically and mentally” abused by her husband throughout her nine-month marriage.

According to news reports, Manohara had accompanied her husband to Singapore on Saturday to visit the Kelantan sultan who is being treated there for a heart ailment.

Daisy reportedly mounted a rescue at the Royal Plaza Hotel where Manohara was staying, with the help of the Singapore police and officials from both the Indonesian and US embassies.

Denying this, Mohd Soberi said Manohara had decided to return to Jakarta after she had a seven-hour meeting with her mother and her sister Dewi Seri Asih.

“She (Manohara) is scared of her mother. She always bows to her mother’s instructions. Everything has been decided by the mother,” said he said.

He claimed that Manohara had witnessed her mother’s tantrums while as a child, and further alleged that Daisy had abused their maid when residing in France.

He dismissed Manohara’s claim that she had been “physically, mentally and sexually abused” and that she had been injected with hormones to gain weight drastically.

“Her action (to say that she was abused) was orchestrated in order to agree with the mother,” he said, also claiming that Daisy had made plans earlier to take her daughter back to Indonesia.

“She (Daisy) had arranged everything. The Singapore media have been following her. Once both of them arrived in Jakarta, Manohara was taken to a television station for an interview.”

‘Divorce up to her’

To a question as to whether the royal couple would divorce, he replied: “If she wants to file for a divorce, then we have to go according to the procedure. Tengku Mohammad Fakhry said it is all up to her.”

“He does not blame (any) government. He does not even ask the government to settle a marriage problem. A Malaysian would not be that stupid to use any government as a tool for their own interests,” said Mohd Soberi.

Manohara, was reported to have returned to Indonesia at 7am local time yesterday.

She was to have gone for a medical check-up, including a psychiatric examination, this morning. The results will be given to her lawyer to determine the next course of action.

Responding to this, Mohd Soberi said Tengku Mohammad Fakhry “welcomes” the move, adding that “it is about time they showed us evidence of their allegations”.

Mohd Soberi had previously blamed Daisy for causing problems, alleging that she had demanded money from her son-in-law.
