‘Can't Umno see that it is being shown as unprincipled by admitting the jeer leader of their immediate past president? Doesn't the party have any principles?'
On 'Have we now forgiven Mahathir?'
Maniam Sankar: After hastily ridding itself of Pak Lah as president, Umno has continued with unholy haste to reinstate Mahathir as a member even though he resigned and thumbed his nose at the same organisation.
That his membership was confirmed with a number as soon as the form was submitted should be cause enough for the ROS to investigate for irregularity.
How can any one now say who is a member of Umno as admission is on the spot and membership numbers are recycled?
But more to the point is the fact that Mahathir's return is to crow about himself, the puppet master, getting rid of Pak Lah.
Can't Umno see that it being shown as unprincipled by admitting the jeer leader of their immediate past president? Doesn't the party have any principles?
They can't even see they have made the unkindest cut on a decent man, Pak Lah, by admitting an opportunist like Mahathir who obviously does not value the party membership.
Mahathir has come to haunt you Najib; as you sow, so shall you reap.
P Dev Anand Pillai: It will not augur well for the new PM if he is seen to be guided by TDM. The new PM should be his own man.
He should be brave enough to take on the opposition leader and beat him fair and square instead of following the past precedent which was nothing but trumped up charges.
The new PM should free the judiciary and allow it to regain its independence again. The new PM should ensure that the EC is independent.
The new PM should initiate a move that will make the IGP and the AG report to Parliament.
If the new PM is willing to do all this, then he will be seen as his own man. Otherwise he will be seen as a follower instead of a leader.
TDM did not agree with the Perak constitutional impasse at first but now seems to agree and endorse the BN-installed MB.
If the new PM is going to give effect to his clarion call of a ‘1Malaysia', ‘People first and performance now', then he must ensure that he does not have any interference with his authority.
Or else it will be the same old story with some new characters from the old BN book of tricks.
On Mahathir wants to be 'unofficial adviser' to gov't
Dr. M's Fan: Why did Dr M make this announcement? I think it should have come from our new PM, not Dr M.
It looks like Dr M is now the PM.
My humble question is, will Najib dare to defy Dr M's so-called advice (or order)? If he does not or dares not, then the real PM is Dr M
On Najib's leadership offers a new dawn for nation
The Healer: One can deduce this writer's primary social fulfillment is the economy, business or in general, cash.
He merely focused on Najib's potential to bring the economy back up and never once mentioned social justice, which encapsulates the above as well as equality, integrity, rule of law, peace, etc.
Our society has to mature from viewing social justice as primarily ‘cash in the pocket' - there are other equally important aspects of social justice that must be achieved in Malaysia.
Let not cash cloud our view of social justice and return to our quiet ways in the past, turning a blind eye to equality, integrity, rule of law, etc.
Yee: On the Malaysian propaganda news, it was reported that there were business groups who said that Najib has been well-received by the people as Malaysia's new prime minister.
As far as I am concerned, only 2,000 Umno delegates are happy with their new prime minister. The rest of the country had no say in this and the man was thrown onto our laps.
There is so much question surrounding his credibility that it's even surprising that Mahathir would endorse such a man. It speaks volumes about Mahathir's choice of leaders.
He had gone through four deputy prime minister's during his tenure, chosen a successor and apparently they were all not good.
Now he has chosen a man with questionable character and he presumes it is the best for the country.
Najib Abdul Razak is a threat to national security due to questionable skeletons in the closet.
If any foreign government has evidence or reports of such skeletons, would it not make perfect blackmail material?
Will the country's sovereignty and interest not be at risk due to a leader of questionable character and past? If this country is threatened in anyway; Umno must take full responsibility for this.
On New PM urged to name 'clean' cabinet
Dorai Dubai: The role of our new PM is not as easy as we think. Firstly, Najib must clear the camouflage on the Altantuya case either by hook or by crook. Solve it now and immediately.
Secondly, to garner the Indian support, the remaining Hindraf leaders to be released immediately.
Thirdly, the three ‘BN friendly' independents in Perak should vacate theirs seats and request for a by-election. Najib should accept the fact that the Perak government doesn't belong to BN yet.
Fourthly, please get rid of all racist ministers who always fan racist sentiments against the non- bumis like Syed Hamid, Zaid Hamidi, Khairy and Nazri.
Pick some of them who have a good track record like Shahrir, Mustafa Mohamed, Tajol Rosli and some others. Uncle Samy and Auntie Rafidah should stay away from politics and do some charity work.
Finally, please, please don't keep Mahathir around you. He is not an asset, he is a liability. Why do you need a baggage like Mahathir with you?
Ong: To all who suggested that ‘New premier Najib Abdul Razak must install a cabinet untainted by corruption' or that ‘In appointing a new cabinet, Najib must choose ministers who have three things - integrity, integrity and integrity', I say surely you jest.
If he takes your suggestions seriously it is going to be a very, very long wait for a new cabinet.
He may even decide to disqualify himself. Come on guys, please make suggestions that are practical and that can actually be implemented.
Or perhaps you people are actually referring to kitchen and clothing cabinets.
