I refer to the Malaysiakini report MCA's new No 2 promises change .
Embattled Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, wrestling with his reform agenda, should not even consider somebody as morally tainted as newly-elected MCA Deputy President Dr Chua Soi Lek for any cabinet or government post.
The BN will never be able to look at itself again if it does this and the issue will surely come back to haunt it at the next general election.
The opposition will go to town with the issue if Chua gets back his cabinet post.
Chua has been unfaithful, disloyal and totally lacking in remorse. He has shown himself to be a bad husband and a bad father and such a person will surely not make a good leader.
People will be constantly sniggering at him behind his back.
In fact, there are quite a few people in the cabinet right now who should not be there for various reasons. These people should be kicked out as soon as possible, rather than thinking about how to let Chua in.
If Chua wants to redeem himself, he should concentrate on political party work and no more. Let him focus on the politics of what brings us together as a people and not what separates us.
We know that victory at the party polls within the Barisan Nasional is really no reflection of popularity or ability. It's those who have the money who get elected in BN component parties, as underlined by Rais Yatim's statement recently.
Rais is not being a sore loser but was simply admitting frankly that he has run out of money to buy more nominations than what he has gathered so far in the ongoing Umno campaign.
Let's hope that all those in Umno who are keeping silent on what they can do for the nation and yet at the same time chalking up an incredible number of nominations, will be thrown out for money politics.
Otherwise, we will have people even worse than Chua calling the shots in Umno and soon the entire BN will stink like rotten fish and eggs combined.
