I would like to inform you that your article〈蔡锐明呼吁马华召开特大集体决定是否续留在国阵〉published on the 13th of October 2008 has taken Dato' Chua's words to 'The Malaysian Insider' out of context. Dato' Chua's suggestion for MCA to "call an EGM to collectively make a decision" on its future in the BN is not in relation to the current political situation but rather if all other avenues of change have been exhausted from within the BN.
Dato' Chua was expressing that in the next general election, BN has no alternative but to change and stop being race-centric. He expresses that the BN must have the capacity to change in order to move towards being more multiracial. If the current situation persists without change, the MCA will increasingly feel that it does not serve a purpose. It is only under that condition that Dato' Chua expresses his suggestion for the party to "call an EGM to collectively make a decision" on its future as part of the BN.
I would like to note that Dato' Chua has consistently said that now is not the time for MCA to leave the BN. MCA and UMNO has had a historical alliance for more than 60 years and now at this juncture it is morally right for MCA to remain in UMNO. Dato' Chua reiterated this in his recent manifesto launch and his stance has not changed.
“But he warned that if the status quo remained, "increasingly MCA will feel it does not serve a purpose," adding that there was already a determination at the grassroots for change, and members were prepared for the party to leave BN. (后称第一段文字)
If this were to happen, Chua suggested that the party "call an EGM to collectively make a decision" on its future in the coalition.” (后称第二段文字)
尽管文章在更早前(之前第四段),文章提到蔡锐明谈到下届大选“到来时”,国阵必须放弃种族中心路线,
“He said that by the next general election, BN had no alternative but to change and stop being race-centric.”
