I refer to the Malaysiakini report Najib Wants Indians, Chinese To Back BN .

With much sadness, I read the above report. What has come of this nation where the deputy prime minister has to beg for support? We should be ashamed of ourselves for letting it come to this.

I still remember how things were in the past when even in a lower position, Najib could hold his head up high. Now, as the deputy prime minister, he has to beg the Chinese for their support.

Malaysians are a very forgiving people and as Najib has obviously gone down on his knees, itt is time that we give him a chance.

What I propose is that if he truly is sincere in helping the Indians and Chinese, and he wants our support, then we should let bygones be bygones and give him a chance.

However, we have to know if he is sincere about it and that it is not just another Umno ploy. After all, we have experienced a lot of tricks by the president of Umno himself, especially just prior to the last general elections.

So what I suggest is that each of us send Najib a few questions which require his clarification. I shall start the ball rolling.

1. Why wasn’t disciplinary action taken against the 35-year-old history teacher for racially abusing Indian students at SM Telok Panglima Garang? To add insult to injury, she was ‘promoted’ to a better school nearer her house.

Furthermore, the letter of transfer stated that she was being transferred due to concerns for her security and not because she had committed an offence.

She called the students names so horrific, that many shuddered to think she was a teacher. If verbally abusing students does not warrant the sacking of a teacher, tell me Najib, what would a teacher have to do to be sacked?

2. Why haven’t you challenged (through a civil case) all those accusations about your alleged involvement in the Altantuya murder? You can assist in this investigation. After all, the public is still confused about the case.

3. Why did you initially lie about meeting Saiful? Why did you change your mind then? If you can lie so blatantly and get caught for it, how can we believe anything you say? They could be all lies, right?

4. Why was Anwar Ibrahim arrested by the police and put in jail for a night when he had done nothing wrong and had not been charged for any crime? He only wanted to have lunch before going to the police station. Are we in a police state?

5. In Anwar’s last sodomy trial, why was his DNA sample removed from forensic custody? And when confronted with this fact, why did the prosecution amend its charge and persuade the judge to expunge the entire DNA evidence from the record, preventing Anwar’s lawyers from responding?

6. Why have you and all the other Umno leaders not gone to the mosque and sworn by the Quran that you are all not involved in any form of corruption whatsoever? After all, you and the prime minister have asked Anwar to do this, so why don’t you all practice what you preach?

7. Why do you continue to have racist people like Bung Mokhtar in your cabinet?

These are my eight simple queries for Najib to redeem himself to the public. I suggest that we get queries from a few more people before Najib responds.

And Najib, if you can convince the rakyat of your sincerity in responding to these simple queries, you will not have to beg us anymore. It is quite embarrassing to have our deputy prime minister beg.
