Yes, like everyone else at first, I was quite baffled and a mite disappointed that the much feared (as warned everyday in the news on TV) 'protest' on Sunday would be nothing like a street protest that we had seen before ie, Bersih, Hindraf, and the 1998/99 rallies.

Hey, it was to be in a stadium (read: legal), not on the streets (read: illegal).

Because it was to be held in a stadium, I brought my family and grown children in a show of support and unity and for the cause supported by the rakyat .

And so, I would like to thank the organisers Geramm and Saudara Anwar for putting the safety of the rakyat first.

This goes to show that they are responsible (not hooligans) and have the wisdom and maturity to put the welfare of the rakyat first before individual glory or heroics.

Yes, many have vilified and criticised that the Sunday protest has failed. Yes, there was no march on the streets by one million people, no one got arrested nor got beaten up by the FRU and Saudara Anwar was not whisked off by police on charges of incitement.

But like me, my family and many of the 25,000-30,000 rakyat who came, we were happy to meet and talk face-to-face with the people's heros (eg Pakatan MPs) and for the chance to see and meet similar like-minded rakyat in a social protest in a safe environment.

Plus, we had actual underground bands (Umno only has Mat Rempit)! Of course, there were incidents but they were nothing serious.

If I was the ruling government, I would get a mite worried because all parts of society came together on Sunday - senior citizens, retirees, families with children, hardcore supporters, Islamists, PAS, DAP and PKR members, NGO activists, students, musicians, poets, and underground music bands.

The people rock!
