I refer to the letter Handbag was not snatched inside our shopping complex .
It is plain to see that by the very fact that the Summit shopping mall management chooses to mislead about so many facts, that its credibility is seriously in question. In keeping with my police report, I would like to clarify the following.
But before that, I would like to point out that my name is so badly misspelt in the management's letter that you wonder about how they can carry out anything efficiently if they can't get a simple thing like that right.
I would also like to state categorically that I did not leave my bag on a seat and ‘walk off’. Which person will do such a thing? I've seen many women engrossed in shopping, but never seen a single one so engrossed that she can leave her handbag on a chair and disappear, unless of course, she is running after a child in danger.
I was ‘instructed’ to report to the Security Office at Basement 1? By whom, the management's letter does not say. It only states by ‘the staff’. Which staff?
I only had interaction with the lady at the information counter and the security guard standing in the vicinity of the information counter and his boss whom I'm presuming came much, much, later claiming to be head of security.
If the shop assistant with me had informed the information counter that we had seen the thief at the entrance to the building (after the theft of my handbag), near to Starbucks, which is on the same floor as the information counter is on, why tell us to go all the way to the basement to report when there are guards on the same floor?
Wouldn't it be quicker and more efficient to make an internal call to alert the guards immediately? The information counter would not do that and neither would she make an announcement. I had asked her to do that to alert the other shoppers as the thief was spotted to be still in the building and an existing danger to other shoppers.
This was not addressed by the Summit management's letter and I wonder why? What if it were someone's child kidnaped, can you imagine how this slow reaction from the management could have cost a child's life? In my case it was not slow reaction, but no reaction. And I reiterate, I was not asked to report to security at Basement 1.
Finally, it is a blatant lie that the Summit's management does not have my details. All my contact details are in all my e-mails sent to the CEO of Meda Inc Bhd that manages the Summit and the complex manager.
So it baffles me why this complex manager would say that she does not have any of my contact details. If the Summit management does indeed not have my contact details, how is it possible for the complex manager to e-mail me a copy of the above letter?
By the Summit's own flimsy answers, let the public be the judge where they should and should not shop for their own safety and safety of their children.
