Here we go again, its so deja vu. In a sort of a fitting ten year anniversary celebration, Malaysians are presented with the sequel to the epic ‘Sodomite’ starring an actor who is forced into his role against his will and basic human rights.

Whether or not he did what so called opportunist moralists allege he did is absolutely his right as an individual and not the business of all these supposedly purists.

After all, nowhere in the storyline of the original epic in 1998 and the current sequel in 2008 does the script involve going against the will of the participants in the act.

It surely was not rape, molest or involved any underaged juvenile. We are thus left to assume that as adults with a thinking mind, they would have both consented to the act and enjoyed the ensuing pleasures.

So why would one party suddenly claim to be aggrieved, if not to take advantage of some incentive coming his way from somewhere?

Would that not smack of prostitution and thus render the aggrieved party guilty of a criminal act? Or is it a sudden overwhelming sense of remorse arising from the realisation of violating one of God’s laws?

If that is the case, go pray and plead forgiveness from Almighty God and spare this nation your raves and tantrums. This nation has enough issues to deal with that are larger than the pains of an individual.

If indeed, the moralists amongst us wish to take exception to sodomy amongst our leaders, what about extramarital sex and more heinous, proven cases of molest and sex with minors?

There are legions of anecdotes on this but of course, all this is kosher and not politically expedient to be brought to the fore by the vultures amongst ruling class politicians in Malaysia.

What about the billions in ringgit of taxpayer’s money that has been plundered? Heck, we should not give a damn who they sleep with, male or female, so long as it is consensual and not a juvenile but we surely should take exception if anyone steals even one sen of our hard earned money that we pay every year to this government as taxes.

We should take exception if they promote racist policies and deny every Malaysian a rightful place in this blessed country of Malaysia.

Choosing morality as a value is of course right and relevant but Malaysians should be careful not to be deceived by the selective moral dimensions of opportunist politicians amongst us whose track record tells us that they would be better off preaching in hell, as that’s where they would go if they do not repent in time.

We ordinary Malaysians would be better served if politicians spent the time and energy managing the economic challenges that we are facing.

That’s Morality 101 that we expect out of politicians. Failing which, they do not have the moral right to enforce morality amongst us.
