I see no reason why we Malaysians should be ruled by any other party other than Umno and its allies. This is simply because Malaysians are a very hard lot to please - they are very good at complaining but never good at allowing a person or a party a chance to represent and gover them. Maybe the Kelantanese are different but the rest of the country, one feels, is just is too indoctrinated with Malay supremacy that they just cannot do with anything else. Be they Malay, Chinese or Indian, they just want the old way of governance, that is, the good old Mahathir style of Bolehland, so that they can get into the way things were done before. It is really ridiculous to think that the opposition can deliver when they only have 82 out of 222 seats in parliament. How is the opposition going to deliver when all state funds are now channelled to federal departments at state level? How is the opposition going to deliver when the tourism ministry has set its own tourism action council to receive federal funds destined for states that the opposition controls? How is the opposition going to deliver when we have government servants who are still in the mindset of serving their Umno bosses and lords? How is the opposition going to deliver when we have a civil service that does not follow the General Orders but instead follows the Umno (and its allies) orders? It will be very hard indeed to satisfy Malaysians as they only know Umno, the Alliance and now the Barisan Nasional. Unless the BN neglects them, only then will the Malaysian vote for the opposition. Unless the BN has forgotten them and reneged on their promises as they usually do, only then will the Malaysian vote for the opposition. Malaysians only vote for the opposition out of frustration and not for the fact that they believe in a two-party system for the country. Malaysian have given the opposition 82 seats this time because the BN - according to Malaysians - had become arrogant. One would like to know what arrogance? Was it the same system of favoured discrimination, the New Economic Policy, creeping Islamisation, rampant and deepening racialism, increasing crime, supremacy of race and religion and the demolishing of temples? This was what Malaysians could live with so why all of a sudden, we see it as being arrogant? We always ask why we can't produce leaders who would question the status quo but when one emerges, we ask ‘can we trust him’? We always ask why can't the opposition work together and try to defeat the BN but when they do, we say they are not delivering the goods fast enough. The next time around, Malaysians should not waste their energy by looking for some ridiculous two-party system, which will never emerge in Malaysia because each and every Malaysian has been indoctrinated with Umnoism and Mahathirism right from the time they are conceived. Therefore it would be a futile effort to satisfy a community of people known as Malaysians. We can never think out of the box and neither will be allow others to think if they so dared. We are all the same old crabs in the same old basket. Some thinking crabs have climbed out and run off but the other crabs who are jealous of these crabs that have escaped are now calling for these crabs to come back into the basket and at the same time reminding and threatening the young crabs that if they decide to climb out, they will be finished. Therefore, it is time that the Umno fishmonger catch all these crabs and puts them back into the basket and seal the lid tight because as Malaysians, we all want to be in that Umno basket anyway! So folks, you want the opposition to give you in 100 days what the BN government could not give us in 50 years. What a joke! That's why Malaysians don't deserve democracy, they can only adhere to a guided democracy with limited liberties. They must always be told what to do and be mollycoddled by the government that they so much love - which must always be Umno and its allies. They cannot stomach anything else. Malaysians say Robert Mugabe is a dictator and is not fair in the elections by threatening his challengers like Morgan Tvsangirai by every means possible but how better are we? Don't blame the Burmese for not going against the generals, we are no better ourselves. This is Bolehland and it always will be for Umno will always be in power perpetually. No questioning will be tolerated on special rights and the New Economic Policy or whatever it is called by. This is Malaysia, no matter how highly educated you are, one must always note that these things are always above you. |
