I refer to the letter Gov't still taking rakyat for granted .

I, too, happen to share a similar view. Three months after the 12th general elections, it looks as if the BN government, still doesn’t get it. Or is it Umno simply doesn’t get it? That they lost their two-thirds majority primarily because the rakyat got totally frustrated and angry with their rhetoric.

After the elections, our PM said that he underestimated the power of the Internet and then our new Information Minister who said that the bloggers should get more recognition.? Here's how they recognise us. One day after a major bloggers meet and while we were happily celebrating World Press Freedom Day, they whack us upside down with intimidation and there goes the Blogger Boss, right behind bars.

That's not all, his was Nightmare on Blog Street. You can read the gruesome account by RPK. Mind you, this is no Hollywood mafia movie but drama in real life Malaysia! Does this not stink of a system gone haywire?

One of the reasons for BN’s fall from grace at the elections was for not recognising and being out of sync with the needs of the people. Our memos, our voices, our cries, our fears were simply ignored and never heard by the leaders whom the people put into power. As for the NGOs’ voice? Really, I would like to know which of our leaders actually paid attention to them?

In fact, how much of the Berish's demands were heeded to? What about the Hindraf demands? Much to the chagrin of the people, the Hindraf 5 and the other ISA detainees continue to remain locked up, in spite of calls by the rakyat and several NGOs. Fellow Malaysians, how long are we going to wait for our government to hear us? Don't you think these people need to be heard in a court of law and be charged if they have done wrong?

The problems of the high crime rate and migrant labour would not have arisen if there were proper governance in our country but today the competency seems to have been compromised and the very guardians of public interest now seek their own self-interest.

Our PM, the president of Umno remained silent when the former Selangor ex-MB – a high echelon member of Umno - shredded documents and did not even adhere to the basic ethics of handing over power. Even junior executives in private organisations know that upon exit they have to hand over their work to their successors in a professional manner.

By the way, can we bring to the attention of the ex-MB and his men that they were put into office and paid by the rakyat and therefore are accountable to us? Really, do they care to hear the voice of the people? Fellow citizens, can't we - the people - make these irresponsible leaders accountable for their misdeeds? These are leaders and by right should be role models with impeccable characters.

While the current Selangor government has made a police report to this effect, it looks like our cops seem pretty slow and as yet the rakyat are still awaiting for the outcome of the report. Rather than go after the criminals (and possibly at the behest of the government) our 'friendly' police go after bloggers and such! Come on guys! Go on, do your jobs, stop going after the innocent, catch the criminals and reduce the crime rate.

And imagine my horror when I read that Prof P Ramasamy, the deputy CM of Penang was refused permission to distribute free spectacles to poor schoolchildren. Are we to believe the deputy minister of education when he says the children ‘cannot be disturbed’ during school hours. He should read this .

Let me tell you about how often I have been to our national schools and found classrooms filled with children unattended to, without their teachers because the latter were away at ' kursus ' or on leave. Many parents will also be familiar on how at the end of every school year and after the final exams for almost three weeks, our kids are left to roam around in the schools. Yet our politicians want to pull wool over our eyes. I am tired of the way our leaders give us their stupid spin thinking that we people have arrested development and are retarded.

How do we tell the federal government that, indeed, we are tired of their scam? The 12th general elections should have been a good enough lesson for them to learn. We see through their 'politicisation' of not allowing the five opposition state governments to perform. They are not hurting Pakatan Rakyat but the very people of those states and by doing so, they are in fact denying the democratic process there.

This be the case, fellow citizens, its your call and mine, to start some initiatives to take our country to a platform of the highest level of integrity, honesty, good governance and accountability. We cannot sit back and rest on our laurels of denying the BN a two-thirds majority. Let’s continue to take ownership for this is our country and let us not let things slide back again.
