I refer to the letters What subsidy? No subsidy lah and RM2 billion for workshops, entertainment? I echo the sentiments expressed by the writers.

The subsidy that is crippling the country is not that of oil but the one synonymous with an odious entitlement programme called NEP/NDP.

Considering that 90% of the projects in Selangor ended in failure; corruption, mismanagement and wastage must by far account for the largest portion of the government's expense.

It is an indirect admittance of their failure and of utmost insensitiveness to the plight of the people for the prime minister to openly tell the people to lower their living standard while they continue to enrich themselves at the expense of the masses.

I'm not sure they fully realise the ramifications of their statement. The people already have their backs against the wall, the only way they can change their life is to the change the government.

Bravo, Pak Lah, just as the people thought he could not possibly enrage the people any further, he outdid himself.

Why is he in such a hurry to send Umno into the dustbin of history? Perhaps he and his cohorts suspect that their days are numbered and are racing agaist time to milk the people for all their worth before their impending departure.

To those who oppose the fuel subsidy, it would indeed make economic sense if the money is otherwise spent on nation-building, for instance, providing effective public transport etc.

However, the money is more likely to end up in the pockets of the Umnoputeras than benefitting the people as a whole.

Therefore, I believe I am expressing the skepticism of a large part of the population of the necessity and nobility of ending the fuel subsidy.
