The rakyat will soon partake in the celebration of His Majesty the Yang di Pertuan Agung's birthday. Since time immemorial, this has been a day of great honour, pride and hope for citizens as we came together to mark our King's birthday.
Come this Saturday, the celebrations, hopefully, will also mark a significant beginning igniting hope in the hearts of the millions of citizens who are worn and weary from the unending politicking and political battles that have spread a gloomy haze over our ordinary lives since the tsunami of the 12th general election.
As we rise to proclaim our undivided loyalty to the monarch - the head of this nation that won its independence without a bloodbath - we pray for His Majesty's good health, wisdom and guidance.
If our politicians cannot unite for the good of this nation but continue to preach and live by the mantra that politics is dirty, then we need a more affirmative solution.
Let our prayer this birthday of His Majesty be the want of a permanent solution so that this nation of 50 years can get back on track.
Every man on the street fervently hopes that as we cherish our heritage and protect our sovereignty, His Majesty with the support of his fellow rulers will help the rakyat to see a more permanent solution to the corruption, politicking and power agendas of individuals who are puncturing the nation's way forward.
Long live our King. Peace be upon our nation. And as much as the rakyat turns to His Majesty as a beacon of hope, may our future be an exemplary lighthouse for the region too.
