I refer to the Malaysiakini report Minister wants cool heads over BMC saga .
I am the resident of Bandar Mahkota Cheras. I am sad, disappointed and angry over the incidents that happened at my place recently. We are ashamed of our police personnel’s high-handed ways of handling the situation. Our policemen had beaten up a member of Parliament Lim Lip Eng, resident Tan Boon Wah and antagonised the residents.
We are just ordinary people who are struggling with our daily life and chores. On the evening of May 8, while on mine way back home after fetching my son from school, we saw Grand Saga's workers trying to barricade the alternate access road again. We immediately stopped and joined the crowd to find out what was happening. We were furious when Grand Saga workers - accompanied and protected by so many FRU personnle - started digging a trench in the road.
We asked the police who actually authorised them to do so or was there any court order obtained by Grand Saga to erect the barricade. Nobody answered us. Since we were overpowered by the police and FRU ‘forces’, we residents just stood there and watched the Grand Saga workers erecting the barricade. But our hearts were bleeding because our government never took care or bothered about our suara rakyat. Instead, they protected selected people and companies.
Our pain and frustration were further aggravated when the FRU fired their water cannons and teargas at us that night. We were caught by surprise. This is unthinkable and unbelievable as the police and FRU never considered that children and pregnant women were at the scene. What wrong have we done?
We just want to use this alternate access road to travel to work and to send our children to school. In fact, this access road is one of the pull factors that made us decide to buy our house at BMC.. The alternate access road was approved by MPKJ in 1994 while Grand Saga’s highway project was only approved in1995.
Paying toll should means savings on time, distance and petrol, right? By allowing Grand Saga to barricade the road, it had caused us inconvenience not to mention forcing us to incur extra cost, and time in order to enter at their 11th mile Cheras-Kajang Highway.
Although we will escape the RM0.90 toll by using the said access road, we still have to pay a RM1 toll fee to Grand Saga at 9th mile Cheras-Kajang highway when we travel to KL.
Here is an interesting article taken from The Edge Daily . The current toll rates are RM1 (risen from RM0.70) and RM0.90 (risen from RM0.60) at the 9th mile and 11th mile respectively. You can imagine how much Grand Saga has earned since with vehicles in our township increasing since 2005.
We are tired of battling with the traffic jams everyday due to Grand Saga’s barricade that had been erected since 2006. The government and their crony companies just think about money for themselves and are not genuine in using their power or even their common sense to resolve the rakyat 's woes. We are tired, miserable and disillusioned.
