I refer to the Malaysiakini report No chance for Gerakan if Pakatan performs .
I do not think it is just a question of ‘no chance for Gerakan if Pakatan performs’. It is more a question of ‘no chance for BN if Umno does not perform’.
If the non-moderates - ie the radicals - in Umno continue with their myopic racial self-serving ‘Malay first" agenda in a multi racial Malaysia, then there must be only one outcome.
BN will cease to exist as Gerakan, MCA, MIC, PPP etc, will have to breakaway from the coalition. Gerakan, MCA, MIC, PPP etc, cannot be so foolish and lacking in dignity as to continue to support a party like Umno whose platform is against the interest of their own people. Umno will be left standing by the wayside, alone, for the next general election.
Gerakan, MCA, MIC, PPP, SUPP, PPP, PDB, Snap, etc, meanwhile, will probably consider it worth their while to join Pakatan Rakyat, since its philosophy resonates with their natural desires as human beings. Or alternatively, they find another moderate Malay political party to ally with or merge with.
The only way Umno can continue to exist as an alternative party is for moderates like Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his team to lead Umno. Not the racist and fascist groups in Umno. If Umno continues to reform and change under the moderate Abdullah, it is likely Umno will continue to retain the other coalition parties, or merge with the other smaller component parties into a new United Malaysian National Organisation, and able thereby to give Pakatan Rakyat, a 'run for their money'.
The current ranting and racial instigation by the fascist groups in Umno is only a smokescreen for one thing. And that is for these 'pirates' to continue in office to plunder and grab the wealth and riches of the country for themselves using, as they have learnt to, 'corporatisation' as a vehicle.
It is fortunate Malaysians are not so 'dumb' now. They have learnt how to use their vote wisely. Thank the Creator of All for Anwar Ibrahim and Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. They are truly the ones working in the interest of Malaysia and Malaysians - now and for the long term - to ensure that no one race or group is marginalised as we continue our journey to the next millennium.
