Only Petronas paying Dr M, others not
Sufi Yusoff | May 9, 08 4:50pm

I refer to the Malaysiakini report RM1.14m for Dr M and two other gov't advisers as well as reports in several dailies today with regards to remuneration received by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in his capacity as Petronas adviser.

Firstly, I would like to point out that Tun Dr Mahathir currently serves as adviser to four government entities.

These are Petronas, Proton, the Langkawi Development Authority (Lada) and the Tioman Island Development Authority.

As adviser to Petronas, Tun Dr Mahathir receives a monthly allowance of RM15,000, paid by Petronas.

Of this figure, RM4,500 is deducted monthly for the purpose of income tax payment to the Inland Revenue Board.

For the record, Tun Dr Mahathir, in his capacity as adviser to Proton, Lada and the Tioman Island Development Authority does not receive any form of remuneration from them.

The writer acts on behalf of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
