When was the last time you really looked at the designs of Malaysian coins?
The coins, from the 50 sen to one sen, feature designs of the following – the wau bulan , the tapak sireh , the congkak , the gasing and the gendang ubi .
Ask yourself if these objects truly reflect Malaysia's multi-cultural character and constitution.
The previous design for all Malaysian coins was the Parliament building with the crescent moon and star above it.
Which is more accurate and representative of our country? Isn't it time we came up with a design which does not describe one single community, but rather the country and its citizens as a whole?
