Congratulations to all! To our opposition in the states and parliaments, it’s time to work. The campaign for the next election begins now. Do not let power get to our heads. Now it’s time to stay united and work hard for the people.

With leaders like the ones we have in the Selangor state government now, we should be able to deliver if we support them and work together to achieve the hope of the New Malaysia. Let all the states govern by BR (remember in this state we are no longer opposition) be an example to the rest, and that would be the best campaign for the next election. If other states see how the people in these states are happy under BR, then they will vote for BR in as well.

Beware of the ‘oppressor oppressed’ syndrome. Do not let our anger at BN over the years allow them to turn the tables and we behave like them. It is not about getting back at them. It’s about serving with humility, sincerity and justice. Serve and rule with justice for our supporters and our opposition. Listen to them now just as we wanted them to listen to us before.

Let us embrace our BN opposition. When Alexander the Great was asked how he became so strong and successful, he replied ‘By making my enemies my friends’. Let us reach out to the opposition, let’s call them to common terms between us. This is a platform for us to build a united Malaysia. We have proven that we can overcome racial and religious barriers, there is no reason we cant overcome political party walls.

Let us be humble at this time of victory. Let us follow the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, during his victory march into Makkah after 20 years of struggle against the Quraish of Makkah. He came in with his head bowed down in humility and he proceeded to forgive and pardon all the wrongs that was done against him and his followers.

Remember, there is no such thing as ‘Kerajaan Barisan Alternatif’. Rather it is ‘Kerajaan Rakyat’ lead by Barisan Rakyat. Remember that the opposition sits as part of the government. So to our new state assemblypersons, let’s get rid of the signages of ‘Satu lagi projek oleh Barisan Nasional’ and change it to ‘Satu Lagi Projek Rakyat’.

We have been tested through the tribulations and now we have been given a far much greater test through victory and power. Let us remain humble and seek guidance ands trength from God to stay firmly on our path of struggle and by our principles. Let us thank God for the victory that He has delivered unto us and show gratitude by carrying out the trust that He has given us in serving the people with justice, fairness, equality and honesty.

To the leadership of PKR, PAS and DAP, we thank you for your leadership, strength and sacrifice and for giving us a place to pin our hopes. Last and the most important, A BIG thank you to the people of Malaysia for your belief in us and the support and trust you have given us. God willing, we shall not fail you.
