I refer to your report The axe falls on Sarawak Tribune .

When lead consumer groups like the Consumers Association of Subang and Shah Alam Selangor (Cassa) and the Muslims Consumers Association called for a boycott of all things Danish over the publishing of cartoons ridiculing Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), we are told 'to refrain' from such actions as such moves will hurt many innocent people.

The wisdom in that advice was accepted in good faith. But then, in comparison it is certainly not consistent with the latest cabinet decision taken on Sarawak Tribune , the state's oldest English daily, which was suspended indefinitely.

We must not forget that Sarawak Tribune has printing plants in Kuching, Sibu and Bintulu in Sarawak. It employs more than 300 people.

So the question beckons why such punitive and harsh punishment on all staff and workers when those allegedly or directly responsible for this cartoon foolishness have been sacked?

What was the need to get punitive and hurt over 300 innocent people and their families who will suffer by this action?

I am certain the newspaper's owners may not be in dire straits financially but in all fairness, the staff and workers will certainly be and this is where I find the contradiction and hypocrisy in the decision made.

Why hurt the over 300 for the fault of one?
