LETTER | There are no two ways about it. No other name fits apart from being called opportunist, hypocritical traitors.

Umno is still the same party as it was before; nothing has changed except they are not the ruling government.

Those who left Umno before the last general election can be called men of principle (although some may dispute this, too), but those who left after are traitors.

This is nothing about race, religion and country. They should stay in Umno and fight for the right course. They should remain and shape Umno. Malaysia does not belong to Umno. Umno does not belong to Najib Abdul and his cohorts.

It belongs to all its members and they need guidance to chart its future course as there are some who blame Umno for having diverted from its objective.

Stay and fight. Why do you run now? Is it because the money is running out? When everyone was warning about extremism and kleptocracy, they paid no attention; in fact, some were vocal supporters, disputing clear evidence being presented. So why use them now as excuses?

Why don’t they just admit that as Umno is not ruling any more, the gravy train has stopped and they are now looking for a party with a new gravy train.

Umno has been extremist for a while now. In GE13, the then PM's infamous remark of “Apa Cina mahu lagi?” is embedded in folklore.

Many in Umno have been regularly spewing out racist and extremist rhetoric. Refer to this list here.

Did any Umno politician ever publicly reprimand them? Never, not a single one. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi even said a cash reward to slap Theresa Kok was not a threat and he was the home minister. Blimey.

Then, of course, the antics of Jamal Yunos and his bunch of merry men who went about breaking all sorts of legal and moral rules with impunity. Did Tok Pa speak up against this joker? Did the rest who have abandoned Umno now speak out then?

The Umno in-house joker title has been now passed over to Lokman Adam. Funny.

No one uttered a word when Umno was lording about town. All the racist rhetoric, all the abuse, all the excesses, all the attempt to cover up misdeeds under the OSA, all the unjust prosecution against opposition politicians and supporters.

In fact, I will consider Zahid as a man of principle (yes, go on, laugh) but he has remained the same as he was before - clueless, talking in circles, backing Najib blindly, not accepting the wrongs of the past. At least he is singing the same tune.

And, of course, the mother of all elephants in the room. Their ex-president was robbing the nation blind and his family was opulent to the extent of being disgusting. But no one in Umno said anything then.

In GE14, the majority of voters said they had enough. Now, these hypocrites and traitors are leaving. Do not let them into any of the Pakatan Harapan parties. These are venomous people who will leave as soon as it starts raining.

Traitors.
