We refer to the Malaysiakini report A Famosa under fire over ‘drugged tiger’ video .

We wish to inform your readers that the Department Of Wildlife and National Parks (DWNP) had already instructed the A’Famosa Resort to cease the photography sessions with the tiger.

This was conveyed during a meeting with the management in April based on the complaints received from the public.

With regards to the video posted on YouTube in February, the department is investigating the case and will take appropriate action based on the outcomes of the investigation.

We would like to reiterate that the department will not tolerate any form of cruelty to animals and will not hesitate to take action on those guilty of such offences.

The Department also seeks cooperation from the public to report any illegal misdeed towards our local biodiversity by contacting 03-9086 6800, emailing at [email protected] or via the e–Aduan channel.

The writer represents the secretary–general, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
