Last month, Tenaga in Penang sent out 'O' bills which are estimated bills to customers in Penang. I was in Tenaga Nasional’s Anson Road office on March 15 to clarify my 2 two months bill statement as the charges was not fair. There were at least five other customers enquiring about the same.

The tariff for domestic charges are here .

I am average user of 400kw/H per month. I received my bill dated Feb 7 ('O' bill) last month and on March 8 ('N' bill) last Thursday. It was for two months and the February bill charges were reversed.

The problem is that for the recent bill, I was charged for a total of two months eg, my usage was 800 kw/H+ and I was charged a tariff rate at RM0.286. The total charges for 800 kw/H = 800 x RM0.286 = RM228.80

If the bill was split into two months, my charges would be:

(200 x RM0.218) + (200 x RM0.334) = RM 43.60 + 66.8 = RM110.40 month = RM 220.80

I have been charged extra RM8 just because Tenaga did not split the bill into two months.

If this case happened for a month there would be more than 500,000 households in Malaysia similarly affected meaning that Tenaga illegally collected from Malaysian citizens a total of RM4 million. I Hope that TNB will look into this immediately.
