I refer to the Malaysiakini report Hassan on race-relations, Islamic state and pigs in S'gor .
With regards to Selcat, Hasan Ali did the right thing. This is true political maturity. Syabas to Hassan Ali, he is bold and he believes in principles.
The people deserve to know what is going on in Pakatan Rakyat. All cards must be laid out, not to divide, but to create further understanding and to prevent disagreements.
If a person thinks that he (Hasan) is a thorn, then that is too bad for them as the problem doesn't lie with Hassan Ali, it lies with them.
Let them give their defense too, openly, like what Hasan Ali did. Remember, everyone has the right to express their concerns openly and uninhibitedly.
Will this break Pakatan Rakyat ? The answer is ‘no’. Only short sighted people will say ‘yes’, ie, those people who are eager to see Pakatan break up and those who have immature political minds.
Remember, my friends that Hassan Ali represents many Muslims in Selangor and his concerns for many things, amongst them beer drinking, are the concern of hundreds and thousands of Muslims in Malaysia.
With regards to alcohol-drinking, the non-Muslims must show some respect to the Muslims too. This country's official religion is Islam, in case they forget. Unfortunately, many non-Muslims commentators appear to have problem with understanding Islamic principles.
The alcohol ban that was proposed (now it is off) was not for non-Muslims; it was for Muslims and those under the legal age. Is this too hard for them to understand?
And whither those who mentioned a ‘pork ban’? Hasan Ali didn't call for the banning of pork and its products. Indeed, some commentators are too presumptuous.
The fact is, many Muslims view Hasan Ali as the beacon of light for Islam in a world that has succumbed to corruption and immorality. Alcohol-drinking is the mother of all evil and vices. This is a fact.
Please tune into YouTube and search under on ‘alcohol binge’, ‘alcohol policing’, ‘alcohol health’ and related issues. The truth is out there for those who are willing to think.
The question for many Muslims is ‘What should we be afraid of’? Remember, Muslims are only afraid of Allah, nothing else. Like Hasan Ali, he is afraid of nothing other than Allah.
Islam is for Malaysia.
