I agree with ' Concerned Cheras Resident '. The whole thing seems to be getting out of hand.
If you live in Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam, you will see these barricades sprouting up in almost every other road. They will be manned by private security guards, some of whom think they have a right to block the roads with traffic cones and rudely refuse to let you pass if you do not answer their questions or give them details as to who or the address of the house you are visiting, which questions and details they have no right to ask or demand in the first place.
There is even one area where the residents not only blocked one of the access roads but actually built an ornamental gate to completely close off that access road to the public and leave one access road manned by private security guards.
Not only that, residents of this particular area, and now other areas as well, have even put up fencing to completely fence off their areas so that the public cannot have access.
As far as I know, these areas are not developed as gated and/or guarded communities and the road, open parks and fields within these areas are public roads and public places to which the public, and not merely the residents within these areas, have a right of access without any hindrance or inconvenience.
What these residents are doing is against the law (including the Penal Code and the Street, Drainage and Building Act). In fact, a couple of years ago or so, the Mayor of Shah Alam advised these residents that they cannot place obstacles on these public roads and the security guards cannot stop or question the public who wish to use and access these roads.
Can the authorities (and MBSA in the case of Kota Kemuning) look into this and immediately put a stop to it?
