The French thinker Voltaire once said: "There is no history, only fictions of varying degrees of plausibility."
And so, who is the father of Malaysia's independence? This seems to be the impetus of our national debate.
Intellectually I see this topic as highly stimulating for younger generations of Malaysians who are beginning to get the feel of, and exposure to, the postmodern sensibility. If we desensitise sensitive issues, we will open up newer frontiers of thinking and understanding.
